STATIC ALTITUDE: A Rivian R1S Conceptual Study

Tools

Nano Banana Pro + Seedance Pro +DaVinci.

"Static Altitude" is a visual exploration of luxury resilience. Moving away from traditional high-octane automotive commercials, this project focuses on the vehicle as a monolith—a stationary object of engineering perfection amidst the chaotic, freezing elements of the Swiss Alps. The goal was to capture the tactile reality of the 2025 Rivian R1S (featured in Rivian Blue and Borealis) not as a machine in motion, but as a shelter in the void.

Visual Narrative: Drawing inspiration from the pacing of Andrei Tarkovsky and the composition of high-fashion editorials, the series utilizes a 6-panel "contact sheet" grid system. This approach forces the viewer to slow down and analyze the details: the beading of ice on the stadia light bar, the texture of the "Borealis" paint shifting in the flat white light, and the immense scale of the landscape versus the machine.

The human element is introduced subtly—a solitary figure in luxury winter wear—anchoring the story in a narrative of isolation and arrival. The aerial perspectives further contextualize the vehicle’s isolation, turning the SUV into a vibrant jewel against a desaturated, whiteout canvas.

The Workflow: This project relied on a hybrid workflow of next-gen generative synthesis and traditional cinematic post-production.

Generation: Nano Banana Pro was utilized for the base geometry and environmental structuring, ensuring accurate vehicle proportions and landscape fidelity. Seedance Pro was used to refine the atmospheric texture—specifically the falling snow physics, the "wet" look of the car paint, and the fabric textures of the clothing.

Post-Production: The final assets were brought into DaVinci Resolve for a rigorous color grading process. I applied a custom emulation of Arri Alexa Mini LF sensor dynamics, pushing the shadows into cold teals and desaturating the highlights to mimic a real-world "whiteout" exposure, ensuring the "Rivian Blue" popped without looking artificial.

Outcome: A series of photorealistic, emotionally resonant images that blur the line between virtual photography and on-location production, establishing a new visual language for EV adventure advertising.
