SKIN

Skin explores how closely AI can approach photographic reality at the level of surface. The project focuses on texture rather than beauty, treating pores, hair, lines, oil, and uneven tone as physical evidence shaped by time, biology, and light.

All images are generated using a single high resolution full frame setup: Nikon Z9 paired with a 105mm macro lens. This combination was chosen for its neutral rendering, micro contrast, and ability to record texture without distortion. The macro focal length allows proximity while preserving a photographic, documentary feel rather than abstraction.

Lighting is limited to diffused afternoon window light. No fill or beauty lighting is used. This restraint preserves natural shadow falloff and prevents aesthetic smoothing. Focus is deliberately shallow and imperfect, allowing texture to resolve unevenly across the skin.

The project does not aim to idealize or correct. It observes. By moving closer, performance disappears and surface becomes document.
